Hello, I'm in need of help with Open Office. I just downloaded Open
Office and I'm having trouble getting into a Word Document. Once I open the
icon for Open Office, I get so many places/icons to look that I'm totally
lost! Is there someone who can help me with this problem. I would truly
appreciate the help.
It sounds like you're looking in the installation folder that's usually
located on the desktop. After downloading OpenOffice, from
www.openoffice.org, I assume you double clicked on the downloaded folder,
to start the installation process. This should have taken you through a few
configuration panels. When the installation is finished, there should an
OpenOffice folder and icons in your Start menu. Use the icons to start the
various OpenOffice components.

Sorry for this off topic thing, but WHY are people ALWAYS asking this
question? Is it really so hard to figure out how to install it? Is there
something that can be done to avoid this happening all the time? I am only
asking, becasue I don't really know.
Many users really have no idea how to install anything. Try supporting
users in a corporate environment some time and you'll really appriciate
the magnitude of this situation. Some users can do little more than
memorize how to do something and are incapable of doing anything that
deviates from what they'er memorized. They'd do much better, if they
learned, instead of memorized.
