Hello,

AFAIK the package build system always builds all packages,

yes, it builds all packages, even unixodbc and radius modules. If you want to build packages locally you either install all required libraries or edit 'control' and 'rules' files from packaging/debian to fit your needs.

thus the requirement for the mysql development files. IMO it causes no harm to have libmysqlcient and ..-dev on the system.

You can use the etch packages from openser.org or install all the needed library on one server which is used for building the packages.

Hey Klaus,

Below is the result of a "make deb". We are using "postgres" instead of "mysql". Perhaps the mysql dependency should be looked into because the "exclude_modules=" says to exclude mysql.

We are using etch. I believe that the reason we started using it was that we needed SATA support for the boot drive.

Didn't realize that I could use "make deb" instead of just "make". We are in the process of moving from FreeBSD to Debian and used to just issue gmake / gmake install. Will take a look at "make deb" to see if that makes "all the worlds problems go away" :)

Hi Norman!

I'Ve never had any problem with the default debian script (the one that gets installed when compiling debian packages with "make deb".) on sarge.

Which debian are you using?

Submitted By: Norman Brandinger (goestelecom)

Summary: openser.init

Initial Comment:
On debian, the openser.init script fails because the
directory below does not exist:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/functions

In addition, the killproc command does not exist.

I have commented the "functions" line and replaced
killproc with killall after installing apt-get install
psmisc.

Not sure if these changes are "correct".

Is it reasonable to have perhaps have a couple of init
scripts, tweaked for different operating systems ?

Regards,
Norm
