well...not sure what you mean by the status of presence - since 1.2
there is a working presence agent and presence user agent (pua)
implementation..
as for BLI - there is the pua_bla module - it follows a draft about BLA.

presence_* and pua_* modules), I think the PA module needs to be purged
(anyhow it is not maintained).
