thanks for your suggestion; I have tried to apply the patch the link is
about, but it says it is not applicable on my platform.
I also try to play with pga_aggregate_target and sga_target, but without
success.
So I am on the same point. I have not found any documented installation
of Oracle 11 on a VE, only of Oracle 10.
Do you know any?

In general, could you please try to set up/configure Oracle using some very
generic howto which is known to work (if you know any). Thus we can eliminate
all configuration-related issues on the first stage.
