Can you pastebin the contents of /proc/user_beancounters on the host? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tomas Lund" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, June 3, 2010 1:40:09 PM Subject: [Users] Need help configuring memory parameters
Hello, I recently started using OpenVZ on a new server and I am having a really hard time understanding all the memory configuration options. I have read several different web pages and finally thought I understood it, but I am having problems with applications in my container claiming they can not allocate memory while "top" shows lots of free memory. Both VE0 and the container are running 64-bit Debian Squeeze with the 2.6.32-5-openvz-amd64 kernel from Debian unstable. The only running container (currently) has 3Gbyte allocated (server has 8Gbyte). It is running MySQL, Apache and a teamspeak3 server. top indicates that only about 300Mbyte memory is used. I was expecting, and would like to, only use 512Mbytes of memory for this container. Tasks: 29 total, 1 running, 27 sleeping, 1 stopped, 0 zombie Mem: 3145728k total, 265704k used, 2880024k free, 0k buffers PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 345 mysql 20 0 236m 55m 7808 S 0 1.8 12:40.74 mysqld 27713 www-data 20 0 215m 17m 3472 S 0 0.6 0:00.18 apache2 27715 www-data 20 0 215m 17m 3488 S 0 0.6 0:00.14 apache2 6005 root 20 0 206m 12m 7296 S 0 0.4 0:10.80 apache2 Full config, top output and "dmesg" from the OOM-scenario is posted at http://tlund.pp.se/openvz.txt I would very much appreciate any input on what is wrong in my config, and how to fix it.
