At 2016-12-29 22:20:05 I tried to run the original VM, and was told that images were still locked. Engine log attached. Unfortunately the vdsmd logs don't go back that far.. I ended up solving my issue using unlock_entity.sh [1] to unlock the images. I just tried to repeat the experiment, and of course it worked fine. One bug that I found that seemed to be similar was https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1020909. In my case, the VM I was trying to clone had just been restored from a snapshot, so a race condition seems believable.
