Please upgrade to RHV 4.4 SP1. Newer improvements greatly reduced the delays during extensions and the default values were changed to accomodate modern hardware. The tuning suggested below should be reverted after upgrading to RHV 4.4 SP1, in case it was applied. Recent testing shows the latest RHV 4.4 SP1 can handle up to 1300MiB/s of writes without pausing.
