Will go and hunt them down for RHEL5. Also, on reflection, I should have said I had to use the timer interrupt as I'm on VMware. I'm wondering if the wall clock time in glibc is actually waiting on ptreads locks and epoll which is counted, whereas if I was using the hardware performance counters I'd get CPU time...
