Hi, The Apache rave software allows you to create a mashup of OpenSocial Gadgets and W3C Widgets. What these in turn provide could be social or content or something totally different, depending on your wishes. It is the gadgets and widgets that make the functionality of what you provided to your users, and Rave helps you to bring together these.
Rave in itself is not a federated social project, but it can be used to display data (profiles, groups, gadgets etc) coming from these platforms via gadgets, like e.g. a gadget that can display the new StatusNet messages. Hope this helps, Cheers, Niels On 04/17/2012 05:23 AM, LongkerDandy wrote: > Hi > > I'm new to Rave, and just tried the latest demo. > > The Web Page said Rave is a "Apache Rave is a new web and social mashup > engine." > I'm not sure I understand that. > > From what I see Rave is like a portal with widget style portalet, > So it's gonna be a Socail Site or a Common CMS? > > How does Rave compared to other Federated Social Project, like Diaspora, > StatusNet and etc. > > Regards > LongkerDandy >
