yeah, you can, especially for advanced users, as SMX4 is based on Karaf.
But SMX4 support camel/cxf/activemq out-of-box, with means fine-tuned jre.properties/custom.properties, endorsed libs, camel related examples , and the default shipped camel features.xml which bundle version match with the underlying karaf.
