There is nothing special about the Ubuntu installation, other from being part of an emulab setup environment.

This is the operating system :*uname -a *Linux upper.geysersinstal.geysers-licl.wall2.test 2.6.38-11-generic-pae #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 29 20:51:21 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux This is the java version I'm using:*java --version* java version "1.6.0_34" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_34-b04) Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 20.9-b04, mixed mode) The JAVA_HOME variable is : eothein@upper:~$ *echo $JAVA_HOME* /usr/local/java/jdk1.6.0_34 I'm behind a Proxy, but this should not be a problem to start the servicemix right? Proxy is proxy.atlantis.ugent.be ?

Kind regards

L.S.,

I just tried reproducing this issue on a local Natty Narwhal installation
(64 bit), but that seems to work fine for me. Is there anything special
about your Ubuntu installation itself or the filesystems you're using?
What JDK version are you using?
