Hello, Our project is using Fuse ESB for data processing for some time, before I joined the company, and the version hasn't been upgraded for more than 2 years (I think). Right now we are using Apache Camel and Apache ActiveMQ and I'm planning to rewrite a long list of web services so that they will be handled using Apache CXF from now on. I'm also pushing for a version upgrade but I don't really understand the versions so I can't explain the benefits of doing this.
Right now we are using "apache-servicemix-3.5.0-fuse-00-00", which I suppose that is the Fuse ESB 3.5.0 version and I thought that it was similar to a ServiceMix 3.5.0 version, but this version doesn't exist. On the ServiceMix <http://servicemix.apache.org/downloads.html> download page I see that version 4.2.0 followed version 3.4.1, so where can I get detailed specifications about version 3.5.0-fuse-00-00 and a list of the following versions? My version includes: Camel 2.4.0 ActiveMQ 5.4.0 Spring 3.0 2010.02.0-fuse-00-00 of the components while ServiceMix 3.4.1 includes: Camel 2.8.5 ActiveMQ 5.5.1 Spring 3.0 2011.02.1 of the components The latest release of ServiceMix is 4.5.1 while the information about Fuse ESB is is not concise, I saw something about version 4 but also something about 7.1 ( RedHat <https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/Fuse_ESB_Enterprise/> ) and this is very annoying. Again, the components, which I need the most, have very confusing versions. While looking for what I need to install the cxf-bc and cxf-se components, for my web services, I came across servicemix-cxf-bc-2010.02-installer and servicemix-cxf-bc-2010.02.0-fuse-00-00-installer. Both of them work fine but the first one has a more recent version of Apache CXF. And all the libraries have a fuse-00-00 added so I don't know if ActiveMQ 5.4.0-fuse-00-00 is the same thing with ActiveMQ 5.4.0. Don't you find this information confusing, am I the only one? Considering the fact that we have to keep the JBI components, which is the latest version of Fuse and/or ServiceMix that we could upgrade to? One last question, I found servicemix-cxf-bc-2010.02.0-fuse-00-00.jar, which has 120 KB, and servicemix-cxf-bc-2010.02.0-fuse-00-00-installer.zip, which has 5.74 MB, what's the difference between them? I know that I asked many questions, but this kind of decisions are hard to take and involve money, so without proper explanations and valid reasons to upgrade nothing will happen. Which are the advantages of Fuse ESB, compared to ServiceMix, since Fuse requires a subscription? Many thanks, Cristisor. -- View this message in context: http://servicemix.396122.n5.nabble.com/Help-me-understand-ServiceMix-and-Fuse-versions-tp5716929.html Sent from the ServiceMix - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
