You should be able to just update the bundle in mid-flight. It kind of depends on what's actually happening in the bundle, but for things like Camel and the like, things should work out fine. For example: in Camel, the graceful shutdown (cfr. http://camel.apache.org/graceful-shutdown.html) mechanism should ensure that exchanges are getting processed correctly before the bundle is actually stopped and updated.
