SMX 3.x does not official support Java 7.
But you can give it a try to see if it runs.

And if it does not then there is no going to be fixed in a future
release, as SMX 3.x is EOL.

ServiceMix 4.5 onwards supports Java 7, but you cannot embed SMX 4.x
in Tomcat as SMX has its own server included which is Apache Karaf.
