It fails on Ubuntu 10.04 64bit with TB 3, because the "settings" Button is
disabled in the add-ons pane.
Is it because I do something wrong? Do I need to follow the advice for
custmization as mentioned in "Mozilla Thunderbird - Installation and
Configuration"? If I needed to, I am unable to locate "extensions.rdf".

You are confusing the two extensions. SOGo Integrator provides
integration with SOGo. SOGo Connector is only for addressbook
synchronisation, CardDAV support and a few lightning-related hacks
pertaining to those features.
