O.k. there were no changes in this machine (I know people alway say so)

the respective line for .pdf in /etc/mime.types is:

application/pdf                                 pdf

The frontend is proxied through an apache SSL:

/etc/apache2/magic says: (if relevant)

# Acrobat
# (due to cla...@cs.cmu.edu)
0       string          %PDF-           application/pdf



There were no change
