My understanding is that SOGo maintains a list of recognised user-agents and 
their associated protocols and quirks. If SOGo comes across one it doesn't 
understand, it simply throws the error and doesn't go any further.

Perhaps open a bug/feature request for SOGo with the details to have the agent 
added?

I don't think there is a way to change this yourself without recompiling. As a 
workaround you may want to see if you can downgrade your CalDAV app. If you 
wanted to try another app, I use CalDAV-Sync (Used to be free, not sure if it 
still is): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dmfs.caldav.lib
