That is really no argument as almost any developer tool is able to handle both line endings today. You just have to configure it in your IDE, TextEditor and whatever you use once and for all the team, just like you define any other coding rules and there will be exactly no problem. A lot of things were decided centuries ago and we don't do them anymore.
