Those are some good doc pointers, but be aware that the start-commit hook lacks the context to perform path-based conditional commit access. It's not until the pre-commit hook phase that the server knows which paths were modified as part of the commit. So, yes, you can do this conditionally from hooks, but use pre-commit rather than start-commit to do so. -- C.
