Answering myself. Yes, there seems to be some redirects in the HTTPD
configuration, see
https://github.com/apache/infrastructure-p6/blob/production/data/nodes/svn02-us-east.apache.org.yaml
(only visible if you are logged in to GitHub with an Apache connected
account).
