I've had better luck using the fckeditor in chenillekit.

My pom.xml:

  <dependency>
          <groupId>org.chenillekit</groupId>
          <artifactId>chenillekit-tapestry</artifactId>
          <version>1.2.0</version>
   </dependency>

A simple template:

  <t:form t:id="editorForm">
    <t:ck.editor t:value="editorValue"/>
    <t:submit value="Submit"/>
  </t:form>
