I've always thought Tiles could flourish in a portal environment and would love to see it happen. I've experimented a bit with Liferay and JBoss portals and found some success with building a Tiles-based layout for JBoss, but it was a couple years ago. I think if someone was willing to spend some time on it a Tiles-based layout for either portal, and for Jetspeed could be created that would make life a lot easier for developers on these portals. You're right that each portal has its own way of handling layout. That's what makes it a challenge. Of course, you could use something like Tiles to unify the approaches (in theory). Anybody who has time can do the research and make it happen. If you do it here in the open we can even offer feedback on your approach :-) Feel free to get involved if you have time. This is one of the things I've wanted to do with Tiles for a long time and just haven't been able to make it a priority. Greg
