Was not seeking to spark vex. As I don't have your knowledge in this most excellent project, I was just hoping more for wisdom on whether it was possible to upgrade those tools with Struts being kept below 2.*. We have used Tiles for many years, but have not been following the changes so much in Tiles 2 or how it hooks up to other more recent versions of projects. We really like how projects become so componentized that use Velocity and Tiles together.
I meant to say we use Struts 1.3.8 and not 1.2.8. We use 1.5 Velocity and 1.4 VelocityTools. It seems you are suggesting that Tiles 2 may not yet fit the bill and there may not be a way besides figuring out a code change in Tiles 1 due to the following issues? - Struts 1/Tiles 2 plugin -- since we are using 1.3.8 this might work. We can try this! - Velocity does not work with Tiles 2 using the above plug-in? If not this would be a stopper. If we upgraded to Struts 2.* it should work? - SSLEXT - Is there a different library we could use instead that works with Struts 1.3.8 and Tiles for secure pages? If there are no options to help us get rid of the above problems, we can try making a change to 1.* Tiles as you suggest. It just feels better moving forward rather then building backwards. Again, thank you for the general pointers on what can and can not be done.
