I respect that, differents points of view. I work with Java IDEs since 1997 from Jcafe to Jbuilder. Eclipse has created a great platform WTP that allows you many different configurations across any application server. The only difference with netbeans is that it has not any embedded webserver. Its really useful for beginners.
And now, did eclipse satisfies all my necesities ? No, neither Netbeans 5. All of us have different repositories structures, way of work, team work, reporting tools, etc. A good web application development enviroment would be one who allows you fully customization. Netbeans took good concepts of Eclipse and is trying to be similar as Jbuilder, a very good commercial tool. Our team works with Netbeans and Eclipse, each developer has preferences, and that is respecful. Netbeans has built in support for Tomcat straight out of install without adding any extra plugins, and you can install other modules for JBoss and Sun Application Server, and there may be others. You might give it a try. I haven't used Eclipse much myself.
