I've seen that kind of thing happen many times: a new group comes in and re-writes everything, rather than getting a group of people who can do a better job with what they've got. It doesn't matter to me that Java is being abandoned for .NET -- .NET is a great environment as I understand -- but the fact that a whole lot of work is being trashed just seems like a waste.
