Thanks Konstantin for your answer. I changed the logging.properties file
as shown below and still I get the INFO level messages. And yes I am
trying to change the logging level for my web application only.

Jugma

############################################################
.level = SEVERE
handlers = org.apache.juli.FileHandler, java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler
.handlers = org.apache.juli.FileHandler, java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler

############################################################
# Handler specific properties.
# Describes specific configuration info for Handlers.
############################################################

org.apache.juli.FileHandler.level = SEVERE
org.apache.juli.FileHandler.directory = ${catalina.base}/logs
org.apache.juli.FileHandler.prefix = ${classloader.DecisionEngine}

java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = SEVERE
java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.formatter =
java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter
