I think I figured it out. It looks like this version of Tomcat in Ubuntu doesn't ship with the WebSocket implementation, as per this ticket: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomcat7/+bug/1326687
I will upgrade Tomcat and come back if I have any more problems. The application works beautifully on my local IntelliJ/Tomcat 7.0.52 environment, but when I deploy it to the staging server, the @ServerEndpoint classes don't get detected by Tomcat, and attempting to connect to them gets me a 404. My development OS is Windows 7, the server OS is Ubuntu 14.04, and in both cases, Tomcat is at version 7.0.52 running on Java 1.8. Thank you in advance.
