You should download the most recent release jk-1.2.18 under http://www.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-connectors/jk/binaries/
Concerning 1.2 vs. 1.3: There are AJP protocol version 1.2 and 1.3. Tomcat and mod_jk support both, but 1.2 has been deprecated a long time ago. This is independant of the web server the module is loaded in. Another thing is mod_jk's own version, which is 1.2.x. At the moment, there is no mod_jk version 1.3.
