Hi Team,
We observed a discrepancy regarding the release status of Apache Tomcat 11.0.27
and would appreciate your clarification.
The GitHub releases page indicates that Tomcat 11.0.27 has been officially
released:
https://github.com/apache/tomcat/releases/tag/11.0.27
No, it doesn't:
https://github.com/apache/tomcat/releases
It appears you are confusing tags and releases. tag != release.
However, the Tomcat 11.0.x changelog page continues to display 11.0.28-dev and
mentions that the release is still in progress:
https://nightlies.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-11.0.x/docs/changelog.html
Which is correct.
Additionally, the Tomcat 11 download page does not currently appear to reflect
version 11.0.27:
https://tomcat.apache.org/download-11.cgi
Which is also correct.
As we rely on community release information to update our version tracking
dashboards, could you please confirm:
1. Whether Tomcat 11.0.27 is officially released and recommended for
consumption.
Releases are announced on the project's mailing list and on the project
website.
2. If the GitHub tag/release should be considered the authoritative source
in this case.
The only authoritative source for Tomcat release information is the
Tomcat project.
Latest releases can always be found at:
https://dlcdn.apache.org/tomcat
All releases can be found at:
https://archive.apache.org/dist/tomcat/
3. Whether there is an expected delay before the download and documentation
pages are updated.
Delay from when?
Once the release vote completes (see the dev@ list), and assuming the
vote is successful, the release is copied to the dist area and published
to Maven central. It takes up to an hour for the release to be available
via the CDN. Then the website is updated and the release announcement
sent out. It is typically a few hours between the release vote
completing the the release announcement being sent out.
Strictly, as soon as the release vote completes you can treat the
release candidate as the official release.

Your clarification will help us ensure accurate reporting and version tracking.
Thank you for your support.
