I have two java's.
I will remove both and reinstall SUN's to be on the safe side.

/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_04/bin/java -version
I've used .rpm distrib from sun web cite and alien tool to convert
it to .deb.
Personally I'd uninstall /whatever/ that thing is, and install
directly from
the Sun .bin version. :-)
