They had (and I naively took them at their word), and they didn't find any such issue. However, as Chuck points out so effectively, "we didn't find any issues" isn't the same thing as "there are no issues in the code". Unfortunately, code reviews merely increase the chance of revealing a defect - they don't increase it to 100%.
