You can run multiple Tomcat instances on the same box, but each will require its own unique IP-address/port combination. See the Advanced Configuration section of RUNNING.txt in your Tomcat home directory for details. If you need to run multiple instances all with the same IP address and port, you'll need something in front of them to dispatch requests to the proper instance.
