To Tony:

You need to use NIO Connectors.
In your conf/server.xml file you need to replace the old Connector with NIO
Connector. Replace with this:

<Connector port="8080" protocol="org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11NioProtocol"
                maxThreads="150" connectionTimeout="20000"
                redirectPort="8443" />
