How do I run Tomcat as a non-root user? I need to be able to bind to ports 80 & 443 which are privileged ports. I know that with straight Apache the user that it runs as is configured in httpd.conf. It starts up as root, binds to the ports and then drops its privileges. However, I'm running Tomcat as stand-alone. So, is there some mechanism in Tomcat to accomplish the same thing?
