It's a fascinating language to teach. I could teach the syntax in one 1-hour
session. Teaching about the development environment took the rest of the first
morning, and then a hypersonic skim of the class library took the other 2.5
days of a 3-day course!
Speaking entirely personally, and not wanting to start a language war*,
Smalltalk is still the fastest prototyping environment for some classes of
problem that I've used (out of somewhere over 30 before I lost count) - but I'd
prefer something with a few more safety belts for production use!
