If you are using a certificate signed by a well-known CA (VeriSign, Thawte, etc.) then you probably don't need to do anything special. If you are using a self-signed certificate, you'll need to import that certificate into your certificate store (cacerts) and make sure that your client-side classes are configured to use it. Presumably, your web services client library makes this kind of thing easy. You'll, of course, have to use an "https://"; URL when trying to connect as well.
