Server crash for memory limit

Hi,
I am using Tomcat 5.0.27. I cannot use more then 2GB for Tomcat 5.0.27. Our OS 
is 32-bit Linux. Can ane one tell me why this happening? And is there any way 
to get rid of this problem and use lot of memory?
