If you put your MySQL data files in /var/run, it's your fault. In standard MySQL configuration, it belongs in /var/lib/mysql, NOT /var/run. /var/run should ONLY contain temporary files (pid files, etc.) and should NOT contain anything that must be saved between reboots.

On Debian, there's even /lib/init/bootclean.sh which removes files from /var/run on boot!

If you put important files that must persist between reboots in /var/run on your system, it is YOUR fault, not ATS's.
