I think there's a bit more substance to it than that as, iirc, many of the ads were talking about experience with component based frameworks, Swing etc ... ie they're interested in people who are more likely to be familiar with some of the underlying concepts and who will enjoy using Wicket, even if they haven't tried it yet. It can't be bad either way.
