Hi you 'll find yourself locked to eclipse in general, not specfically to spring tools as eclipse is the only ide with full aspectj support , which is required to open and edit ROO files the code generation tool will clutter your workspace with big amount of .aj files, and here is the role of spring tools, it hide these files by default for u Joe
