Yes they are releases - the download page has link to binary packages and
source packages (that you could use to build)
What is the issue you have building Zeppelin?Try checking out Projjwal last
reply - build could fail because of firewall issue.

My assumption was 0.5.5 and 0.5.6 are release builds. Can u point me with web
links which are the builds we need to take to get stable code ?

Will it solve the bower issue, mentioned by projjwal ? On Mar 4, 2016 7:31

Please do try the release builds.
As for pyspark issue, do you see any error? Do you have
SPARK_HOME set in your environment?

wow, I have been looking at zeppelins-project.org all along and there are
no such things on the download tab. I will give this a try. To think that I
have already wasted two days trying to build it myself is quite annoying but I
really want to try this tool. cheers José

  Hi,

I am evaluating Zeppelin and I am facing issues doing a maven build of the
Zeppelin code. The build succeeds for most of the projects and it fails for
Zeppelin web application
I have cloned from this Git repository -
https://github.com/apache/incubator-zeppelin.git
and I have also tried downloading the src code from
https://github.com/apache/incubator-zeppelin/archive/v0.5.6.tar.gz

                                                                I execute the
command - mvn clean package -DskipTests

I am getting the following error as output from maven.
