We have this *Unix**/Solaris Administrator** position* with one of our client based out of *Houston**, TX** . It is a** **9** Months* contract. * * *Position:* *Unix/Solaris Administrator*** *Location: **Houston**, TX*** *Duration: **9 Months* Bill Rate: $40/hr on c2c/1099 *Minimum Requirements: * ***********MUST BE US CITIZENS OR GREEN CARD HOLDERS*********** REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 10+ years of UNIX operating systems experience in a UNIX (Sun Solaris and Linux) environment. DESIRED SKILLS: Experience with Sun Solaris up to and including Solaris 10. Experience with Sun servers including 20K/25K/V890, Niagra T and T2 series, X64, and MX000 series. Experience with Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster Server, Legato Networker. Proficiency with scripting in Perl and Korn shell. Experience with SAN storage in an EMC or HDS environment is a plus. Experience/proficiency with various flavors of UNIX and Linux is a plus. Applicant must meet ALL of these requirements. Description: Plans and executes a variety of highly complex assignments associated with managing and controlling UNIX systems. Analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems. Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing. Works on complex problems. Coordinates the remote testing of products in other areas. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems, tests and installation of software. Investigates and recommends methods and techniques to be used for obtaining solutions. Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system/environment problems. Administers and/or oversees systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules which are critical to the success of programs. Plans system/environment requirements for individual projects. May participate in the creation/maintenance of the overall management plan. May act as an internal consultant providing work direction and technical guidance to others. Regularly interacts with senior management.
