JOB TITLE         :  IT Spclst 
LOCATION        : Portland , Oregon 

DURATION        : Immediate -Six Months JOB DESCRIPTION: Position is frontline 
operations in PacifiCorp's Portland Data Center, covering Client/Server 
Support, Data Storage Operations, Production Job Scheduling and After-Hours 
Corporate Help Desk.Conducts analysis, creates system specifications, develops, 
tests and implements engineering, scientific and business applications, 
operating systems, and file/database servers. Utilizes existing or new 
technology in the automation of processes.  Evaluates software packages and 
provides recommendations to management. RESPONSIBILITIES: ·         Respond to 
and resolve technical incidents.·         Incident recognition, 
troubleshooting, isolation, workaround, and resolution.·         Assess 
business impact of changes, incidents and problems.·         Develop disaster 
recovery planning and implement testing.·         Manage and administer 
scheduled
 job software.·         Evaluate and recommend strategies for network and 
client/server needs.·         Monitor OS and hardware for all critical systems 
and performance tuning.·         Manage clustering and data 
replication.·         Manage backup and restore systems.·         Provide input 
and recommendations regarding new technologies and System solutions for meeting 
business needs.·         Perform technical and moderately complex security 
administrator responsibilities.·         Configure PC hardware, peripherals, 
and software in both a network and stand-alone 
environment. REQUIREMENTS: ·         Technical skills including 
troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and database 
management.·         Experience with: Active Directory, Windows OS (current 
minus 2), Novell Directory Services, SAP, Oracle, MS-SQL, UNIX and
 mainframe.·         Assessment skills including incident diagnosis and 
identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future 
incidents.·         Excellent written and verbal communication and 
interpersonal skills for communicating with users, management, and other 
technicians.·         Basic knowledge of current technologies, tools, 
applications, and vendors.·         Understanding of the Company's existing IT 
environment and applicable Company policies, practices, and 
procedures.·         Understanding of and cooperation with utility company 
concerns, e.g. regulatory compliance, and outage 
management.·         Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed 
computing environment concepts. QUALFICATIONS:·         Bachelor's Degree in 
Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field; or the equivalent 
combination of education and
 experience.·         A minimum of three years' related work experience.
