Hi, Pleasanton, CA 3-6month contract possibly 9months Safeway Tracking and Registration System (STARS) Developer The primary responsibility for this position will be to support the STARS application. Duties will include targeting courses to the appropriate employees and enhancing the functionality of the STARS application. STARS is a custom-built software application used to track employee training. STARS has a web-based front-end and a DB2 database backend. STARS maintain employee training records for every Safeway employee. STARS receives a daily feed of updated employee records from the corporate HRMS systems (PeopleSoft, Permit, Cyborg). Courses are created and scheduled by designated administrators. Education Level: BA programming degree preferred Specialization: Web Development or similar degree preferred Experience Level: 5+ years Skills and Background:
Proficiency with web development techniques and coding in Java, HTML, JavaScript, XML, and SQL. Read and write complex SQL queries Analyze data Proficiency with databases Troubleshooting reports, SQL queries, JavaScript, etc. UNIX shell scripting. Extensive experience creating and modifying jsp code is required. (developing without framework) Must be self-motivated and capable of taking a task to completion with minimal training. Ajax experience a plus. LMS experience a plus. Flash experience a plus. Experience designing interfaces is a plus. Familiarity with DB2 database is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities Present quantitative information effectively; ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to perform and actively participate in cross-functional team environment. Sense of humor is a plus.
