I have an immediate need for a Sr. LINUX/UNIX ADMINISTRATOR with client in Mountain View, CA. This is a CONTRACT POSITION for 6 months with possible extension.
Responsibilities include:
Architecting, implementing and administering Linux and UNIX-based solutions
Developing and enhancing rapid deployment procedures
Develop and improve scripts and tools that automate manual procedures
Contribute and adhere to standards including server builds, security, and production migration
Managing efforts in support of data protection and backup processes
Providing occasional 24x7 on call support
Required Experience:
Senior level experience architecting, building and managing Linux and Solaris environments
At least 10 years experience in Linux server administration, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation
A minimum of 5 years experience administering Solaris-based servers
Knowledge of data analytics applications and frameworks such as Hadoop is highly desired.
Experience implementing and maintaining security best practices
Affinity toward troubleshooting and solving difficult system problems, including hardware, software, and networking
Ability to balance multiple, concurrent projects and regularly communicate status and issues
Must be able to work in an autonomous, fast-paced environment with little guidance
Willingness to participate in infrequent weekend and on-call work
Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
