Below is the complete job description Position: Sr WAN/LAN Cisco Configuration Engineer Duration: 6+ Months Location: NYC, NY Rate: DOE * * * * * * Minimum Requirements: This is a Sr *WAN/LAN* Cisco expert; prefer CCNP, proficient in design/configuration/implement/support. Must be experts in *Routing* [ *IOS *, *6509*, *ISR *] and Protocols [*QOS, OSPF and BGP*] Since this individual is working remotely in assisting the London folks, they need to be proficient *in Microsoft Visio* which is a drawing template for technical drawings. must have the hands-on experience to write configurations for equipment they may not have access to. In other words, since the equipment is going to be in London, they will have to write configs "on paper" that will run correctly when loaded. Of course, some tweaking is expected when loading onto the device, but they should be able to get very close to the final config before it is actually loaded. This skill only comes with combined knowledge and experience. Given that QoS is not a protocol, I feel I should elaborate on that a bit. They must be understand the technology and various ways to implement it. This includes concepts such as data classification, congestion management, and traffic shaping. Lastly, the Visio requirement is to support the design effort and is not related to working remotely. The challenge in working remotely is mostly around the need to write good configs without access to the equipment. Applicant must meet ALL of these requirements. Description: This is for the buildout of a new site which will internetwork with an existing WAN. The engineer must be able to assist with the design (though our client is taking the lead), write the configurations for Cisco routers and switches. The site is six floors of the Canary Wharf building in London, with the design being done in NYC.
