Linux System Administrator

 

Location: San Mateo,CA

Duration: 6 months

 

Description/Profile
  • Daily monitoring and maintenance of servers
  • Perform back up, file replications and script management for servers
  • Test and apply new software and maintenance patches, including patch management services
  • Complete security audits on a routine basis
  • Administrative scripting with Perl and Shell
  • Perform other job-related duties as required
  • Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Servers (networking and storage)
  • Familiarity with databases and web programming languages and automation
  • High Availability and failover scenarios, load balanced environments
  • working knowledge of storage environments (SAN, NAS)
  • Strong working knowledge in administering VMware ESX Servers
  • System administration for open source application servers and services: Apache/Tomcat, SSH, NFS, MySQL, PHP, SMTP, vsftpd, etc
  • Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP Suite (TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP, etc.) as well SNMP
  • Strong understanding of and ability to maintain custom kickstart and yum repositories
  • Thorough understanding of RPM, rpmbuild and custom package creation and management
  • Familiarity with DBMS systems such as MySQL, Oracle, DB2, and SQLServer is a plus
  • Automation via scripting (Perl, Shell)
  • Knowledge in ANT, MAVEN , CONTINUM is an added advantage
  • File Replication, File System Tuning, Upgrading and Configuring
  • Troubleshooting and Disaster Recovery
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Familiarity with firewall setup/network security, VPN, Router is a plus
  • Participate in 2nd and 3rd shift (night shift) weekly rotations to provide 24x5 support
