Immediate need:

 

Release Engineer

 

Location: San Francisco, CA

 

Rate: $50/hr c2c -

 

Duration: 6-12 months+

 

Will provide support to PayPal build and deploy tools used by development and QA groups, provide guidelines to RE customers for build/release process,

and create automation tools.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Design and implement release management process that can support a variety of application release requirements.

Ownership of release management process for entire portfolio of web applications.

Collaborates with Software Development, QA, Training and production support teams to promote changes through development, systems/regression test and production.

As related to Release Management process, performs analysis, estimating, research and integration work for existing applications and/or projects.

Delivers software builds and associated assets to staging areas, test and production environments production environments.

Interface with customer and internal contributors on schedules, meetings and issues.

Ensure agreed upon quality control procedures are being implemented and followed at all phases of the project.

Evaluate and optimize release process to reduce time and labor needs.

Respond to, solve and make decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.

Document processes or other information as needed.

Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Able to work as needed overnight hours to oversee more complex production releases.

Requirements and Qualifications

Technical project management and release management experience in fast paced web hosting/application environment

Experience with all phases of software development lifecycle.

Experience with source code management systems such as perforce.

Experience with environment build-out, prep, installs, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Track record providing release management and interfacing with external business stakeholders.

Fluent in web application and web hosting operations concepts and dialect.

Assertive, proactive, innovative, collaborative, and driven to achieve desired results.

Ability to work under pressure and respond to changing demands.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
