* * * * *Senior SQL Server DBA* *Glen Allan, VA* *6 + Week Contract* Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include: - Following procedures, practices and standards employed by the existing DBA team. - Creating and copying databases within an environment. - Establishing logins on the server and granting appropriate application roles within the databases. - Monitoring server performance and recommending instance, server, network and/or SAN changes to help improve performance. The role does not include schema management as this is being handled by a separate DBO (Database Owner) team. There is the occasional need to perform work at the direction of the Database Owner team as it does not have permissions to directly update the database in the TEST environments. This role requires good communication skills, a strong service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership and urgency of the requests, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the needs of the project, establishing and maintaining communication with the project staff to keep them updated with the status of their requests, and proactive escalation of issues that can not be quickly resolved. Skillsets needed: Experience with Hyperion, Lawson, Business Objects and some Cognos knowledge.
