The Identity Management Environment:

The IdM instance is divided into two parts to support the business complex
business model. IdM is extended with hibernate as the middleware framework
to support the roles and recertification process at the client. IdM
workflows/subprocess are built in order to support dynamic approval chains
followed for approvals in IdM.

IdM is the key component of the IAM system architecture. It is a J2EE
application that runs within an IBM WebSphere application server container
which is run on an AIX platform. The application is connected to an Oracle
10g database that will act as the repository for IdM. This repository
stores the IdM system data such as accesses provisioned to identities,
audit events, rules and workflows.

A repository is required to store the IAM system data such as identities,
accesses provisioned to identities, audit events, SoD framework components,
approver / reviewer chains, etc.

To meet the business requirements of our client, a custom application (IDM
extension) is utilized to extend the IdM system. This system is constructed
utilizing standard J2EE and database technologies and stores the SoD
framework, approval chains, identities and entitlements. The complete IAM
system manages SOx relevant applications and the platforms on which they
reside. E-CIS, JD Edwards (AS400, UAA), PowerPlant (Oracle-PowerPlant),
Hyperion (Windows Active Directory) and RSA SecurID are the applications
supported by IAM.
